When a Solar Company Vanishes: Rusty Stone’s Story of Relief and Resolution

For Rusty Stone, going solar felt like a smart, forward-thinking investment—until it turned into a nightmare almost overnight. He was sold a promising system by Encore Solar, a company that vanished just days after the installation began.

With no warranty, no support, and a hefty loan still hanging over his head, Rusty and his family were left angry, confused, and without options—until they found Prevost Law Firm.

A Company Disappears, and the Problems Begin

Rusty’s story isn’t unique. Like many homeowners who are sold on clean energy promises, he was left holding the bag when his solar installer shut down operations without warning. The company completely disappeared—no follow-up, no warranty coverage, and no way to finish the project or recoup the investment.

“We were just mad,” Rusty said. “Confused. Didn’t really know what to do.”

Finding Help Through Legal Action

When Rusty came across Prevost Law Firm, he was immediately drawn in by their professionalism and deep understanding of the solar industry crisis.

“You guys seemed to be knowledgeable,” he said. “There were a lot of other folks in the same boat, and you had a good handle on it.”

Rusty hired Prevost Law Firm, and the team took legal action against the lender who financed the faulty solar system. While the terms of the settlement are confidential, the result left Rusty and his family ecstatic.

“We were faced with paying this gigantic amount for something we never got,” he said. “It’s a gigantic relief not to have to worry about it anymore.”

A Process Worth the Wait

From the time he hired the firm in July 2024 to the final paperwork in March 2025, Rusty says the eight-month process was well worth it.

“We knew it wouldn’t be overnight,” he explained. “It meant that much to us—we were willing to wait it out.”

His Advice to Others: “Absolutely Do It.”

When asked what he’d tell others stuck in a similar situation, Rusty didn’t hesitate:
“Absolutely do it. It was a very easy process. Everyone was super professional and on the ball. I highly recommend it.”

If your solar installer disappeared, left your system unfinished, or you’re facing an unfair loan for equipment that never worked—you may have legal options.

Hi. My name is John Smith. I’m with Prevost law firm. Today, we are here with Rusty Stone. He is, one of our clients, and we just recently finished up his case, and he’s been gracious enough to talk to us a few minutes about it. So, Rusty, first tell me about, your background. Give everybody a little background of your situation, who your installer was, and what’s the nightmare they left you in.

The installer was Encore Solar.

Came in, sold us, you you know, sold us the system, said everything would be great.

Then within days, it seems like they just up and closed their doors. They absolutely disappeared.

And, yeah, that was not a good feeling.

I bet. I bet. So how did being stuck in that so you so you lost your warranty, obviously. You lost any kind of support. How did being stuck in that situation made you feel?

Oh, we were mad. There’s no question about it. We were just mad, confused, didn’t really know what to do.

I feel you. So what think about when you found us, what made you hire a Prevost Law Firm?

You know what? The presentation.

Just, you know, how you guys seem to be knowledgeable about what was going on.

And there were a lot of other folks in the same boat as we were, and you seem to have a pretty good handle on it. So, yeah, we were on board from the beginning.

Awesome. Awesome. So we sued your lender for you. Your settlement prevents us from saying the lender’s name or anything about the settlement details, so we could talk about that. But tell me, how do you feel about the outcome we got for you?

Oh, we’re ecstatic. I mean, you know, we were faced with a situation where we would have to pay this, gigantic amount for something that we never got.

You know what I mean?

That was not something we were looking forward to doing or willing to do.

Yeah. Awesome. Awesome. And how does it feel to be done with all that situation?

It is a gigantic relief. I will tell you that for sure. It’s, it’s just nice not to have to worry about it anymore. You guys are fantastic.

That’s awesome. Alright. So common question we get is how long the process takes. You hired us back in July.

It is now July 2024. It is now March of 2025. That’s, like, eight months. We kinda wrapped it up a month or two ago, but we the final paperwork came in today. How, how was the wait, for that? How do you talk about that?

Yeah. It was I mean, it was fantastic. We, you know, we were we were it wasn’t gonna be an overnight thing. You know what I mean? It’s something that was definitely gonna take some time, a little bit of back and forth, and we were onboard. We were just willing to wait it out. It meant that much to us.

Oh, fantastic. Fantastic. Alright. Last question. What would you tell somebody who’s thinking about hiring Prevost Law Firm to help with their solar panel case?

Absolutely do it. It is the it it was a very easy process. Everybody was super professional on the ball.

I highly recommend you do this. If you’re in the situation with the solar, absolutely make that step.

Fantastic, Rusty. Well, thank you so much for your time. I really appreciate it. I’m glad we got a great result for you, and I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day.
